Hospital Foundation to Strike Gold with New Heart Campaign
Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital Foundation's Heart of Gold campaign will aise $200,000 to advance cardiac care in our community. Funds raised through this campaign will help to purchase new in-house equipment for the Cardiac Rehab and Cardiopulmonary departments, portable equipment to be utilized in a new Penn Valley Clinic, as well as help fund a Chest Pain Accreditation process. The SNMH Auxiliary kicked-off the campaign with a $27,000 donation. Currently, 50% of the campaign goal has been reached.
"Heart disease is the number one cause of death in the United States and heart disease touches everyone. The Hospital Foundation Board of Directors feels that the expansion of cardiac services is a very important need for our community." said Kimberly Parker, Executive Director of Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital Foundation. "Funds raised through the Heart of Gold campaign will greatly improve technology, improve patient care and expand services outside the hospital walls."
The Hospital Foundation is raising funds for a new Echocardiogram, Supine Ergometer, EKG machine and Cardiac Rehab Monitoring System. The Hospital's cardiac department manages more than 30,000 patient visits each year and treats approximately 700 chest pain patients.
"Another exciting part of this campaign is the opening of a clinic in Penn Valley. A cardiologist will be available to see patients and some equipment purchased through the Heart of Gold campaign will be portable to the new Penn Valley clinic," explained Parker.
Dr. Ryan Smith, Cardiologist, will soon be available to see patients in the new Penn Valley Clinic. Several pieces of the new equipment purchased through the Heart of Gold campaign will be portable and available for patients in Penn Valley.
